The Winery
Winery Madre de Água – Serra da Estrela is located in the Dão region, producing some of the finest national wines, holders of great quality and elegance.
Its history, its contrasts, its vineyards surrounded by a range of mountains that protect them from external influences, give these wines unique characteristics of aroma and flavor.
The winery was refurbished and expanded in 2020 with the capacity to vinify 150 tons of grapes.
THE VINEYARDS
In a terroir of excellence, the vineyards are located at an altitude of 600 meters and are between 20 and 80 years old. It has 13 hectares divided between its farms, with white and red grape varieties, both national and foreign.
The vineyards, which have been awarded several prizes as the best in the Dão, are worked by a team who put all their knowledge and passion into it. Harvests are always carried out manually, with production per hectare controlled to get the best out of the grapes. In the cellar, the best berries are selected and each bottle is the result of meticulous work and love for the winemaking tradition.
The consulting winemaker is Paulo Nunes, who has been considered one of the best winemakers for several years.

Viticulture and Enology
PAULO NUNES
With a degree in Food Engineering, he completed his training with a Master’s degree in Food Quality and Technology at the Escola Superior Agrária de Viseu.
His career has included the Instituto da Vinha e do Vinho, the consultancy company “Vines&Wines” and the creation of the Decisão Vinhos Project in the Távora-Varosa Demarcated Region. Since 2010, he has been the Consultant Winemaker for several estates in the Dão region.
